Daniel Woodrell

Daniel Woodrell is an American author renowned for his distinctive style of "country noir" novels. Several of his works have been adapted into films. He is most recognized for his 2006 novel, Winter’s Bone, which featured an award-winning performance by Jennifer Lawrence and received multiple Academy Award nominations. His second novel, Woe to Live On, was adapted into the film Ride with the Devil, directed by Ang Lee. Additionally, Woodrell's novel Tomato Red was turned into a film by Irish writer and director Juanita Wilson.
