Christopher Paolini is an American writer known for his young adult fantasy novels, particularly the Inheritance Cycle series. He was home-schooled by his parents during his childhood. After completing his education, he started writing. His big break occurred when Carl Hiaasen's stepson read his book Eragon, leading Hiaasen to introduce it to the publisher Knopf. Paolini cites several authors as significant influences on his work, including J.R.R. Tolkien, David Eddings, Anne McCaffrey, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Frank Herbert.
