Carin Gerhardsen is a Swedish crime fiction author known for her Hammerby series. She initially worked as a mathematician and later as an IT consultant before dedicating herself to writing full-time. Gerhardsen incorporates her mathematical knowledge and personal experiences into her stories. She resides in Stockholm, Sweden, with her husband and children. Her debut novel in Swedish, På flykt undan tiden (translated as "On the Run from Time"), was published in 1992. The first of her works to be released in English was The Gingerbread House, originally published in Swedish in 2008 and translated in 2013.
