Order of Brian Jacques Books

Brian Jacques (1939-2011) was an English writer renowned for his children's fantasy novels, particularly the Redwall series. He spent his childhood in Liverpool, where his father introduced him to the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Edgar Rice Burroughs. Although his last name appears French (pronounced “Jakes”), his family has not found any evidence of French heritage. Jacques initially wrote Redwall for blind children he encountered while delivering milk, but it gained traction when his former English teacher, Alan Durband—who also taught Paul McCartney and George Harrison—presented it to a publisher, urging them not to miss the opportunity to publish it. Jacques passed away from a heart attack in February 2011. He became a published author with the release of Redwall in 1986, and his last novel, The Rogue Crew, was published posthumously in 2011.
