Brandon Taylor is an American author who gained significant recognition with his debut novel, Real Life, released in 2020. The book was selected as a New York Times Editors’ Choice, was a finalist for the 2020 Booker Prize, and received the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize nomination. It also appeared on various best-of-the-year lists, including those of the New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, Vanity Fair, and VICE. Besides his writing, Taylor serves as the senior editor for Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading and is a staff writer at Lit Hub. He earned his degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Iowa, where he was an Iowa Arts Fellow at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in fiction.
