Ben Elton is an English writer known for his humorous, dystopian, and historical fiction novels. He attended Godalming Grammar School, participated in amateur dramatic societies, and wrote his first play at the age of 15. Although he initially aimed to be a stagehand at the local theatre, he pursued theatre and drama studies at Manchester University instead. Elton has earned recognition for his contributions to sitcoms like The Young Ones, Blackadder, and The Thin Blue Line, as well as for his successful West End musicals, including We Will Rock You. He resides in Fremantle, Australia, near Perth, with his partner Sophie and their three children. Elton published his first book, a non-fiction work titled Bachelor Boys, in 1984, and made his novel debut in 1989 with Stark.
