Order of Ariana Franklin Books

Ariana Franklin is the pseudonym of British author Diana Norman (1933-2011), known for her historical fiction novels. She is the author of the Mistress of the Art of Death and Makepeace Hedley series. Ariana started her career as a journalist, becoming the youngest reporter on Fleet Street. After marrying film critic Barry Norman, she found that her journalism career conflicted with his work, leading her to embrace motherhood in the English countryside while continuing to write whenever possible. Ariana Franklin published her first book, Fitzempress’ Law, in 1980 under her real name, Diana Norman. She adopted the pen name Ariana Franklin in 2006 with the release of City of Shadows, which was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Novel.
