Anthony Doerr is an American novelist who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from University School in 1991. He studied history at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, earning his degree in 1995, and later obtained an MFA from Bowling Green State University. His novel All the Light We Cannot See received the Pulitzer Prize in 2015. Doerr resides in Boise, Idaho, and is married with twin sons. He began his writing career in 2001 with the short story collection The Shell Collector, followed by his first novel, About Grace, published in 2004.
