Allan Mallinson is an English author renowned for his Matthew Hervey series, which follows an officer in the British 6th Light Dragoons. Born in Yorkshire, England, in 1949, he initially pursued studies for the Anglican priesthood but paused to enlist in the Army in 1969. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment and rose to the rank of Major by 1981. His military career continued to progress, leading to roles as acting Colonel and Brigadier, culminating in his final position as Military Attaché at the British Embassy in Rome.
