Alex Gerlis is an English author and journalist renowned for his spy novels, including The Berlin Spies and The Swiss Spy. He spent nearly thirty years as a journalist at the BBC before transitioning to focus on his writing career. Born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Gerlis is a supporter of Grimsby Town. He began his journey at the BBC as a researcher on Panorama with a three-month contract and gradually advanced through the organization, ultimately serving as Head of Training at the BBC College of Journalism. After leaving the BBC, he achieved significant success as an author. Gerlis resides in west London with his wife and has two daughters and grandchildren.
